The Great Dpression was a time of poverty. The economy was in horrible condition, and people were out of their jobs. People would line up at a gate just to get a job to work for one day( it wasn't even a full time job). It all started with a stock market crash in 1929. The Great Depression was happening during a bloody time, World War II. The Great Depression lasted for about fifteen or ten years. It didn't effect only the poor, it also effected the rich. Stocks lost value and that was the end of most of the buisnesses in the United States.
